Usability Kelvin Pedzai has chosen eight character traits that every UX designer needs. Pezai relied on research conducted by Nielsen Norman among more than a thousand UX designers, and supplemented the resulting material with tips from top designers from companies such as Netflix, eBay, BuzzFeed and GoPro. 1. Problem Solving
In order to successfully coordinate business goals with user needs and build processes, a UX specialist needs to master the skill that the concept of problem solving has entrenched in the English-speaking world. After all, the usability user will need to listen to conflicting opinions, think about the context of using the product, put himself in the shoes of the client, understand how he will work with the service, and take into account many opportunities and limitations.

Of course, everyone knows how to solve problems in one way or another, because we do it every day. The goal of a UX designer is to develop this skill in such a way as to feel prepared and confident when faced with any unexpected professional challenge.

2. Learning Ability
In such a broad and multidisciplinary field as designing user experience, you can not do without constant training. A UX designer is both a Swiss and a reaper, which means he must have a lot of different skills and regularly master tools and work methodologies. Learn new things, learn from colleagues and share knowledge yourself – all this is equally useful for development.

3. Communication skills
When you test users, they should be comfortable talking to you. Then their answers will be more complete and truthful. The ability to communicate is also required when working in a team to defend one’s opinion, listen to colleagues and build internal interaction. This skill will also be useful with clients to coordinate work and substantiate their decisions to interested parties.

4. Listening skills
Being an attentive interlocutor is important not only at work, but also in ordinary life. If you can listen, this will have a good effect on the ability to read both verbal and non-verbal messages, and even on the ability to read effectively.

The role of a UX specialist requires a clear understanding of the problem to be solved and effective communication between the team and other interested parties. The listening skill allows you to make fewer mistakes and produce better results. Therefore, it is not surprising that this is one of the main aspects of communication.

5. Analytical skills
A UX specialist with advanced analytics skills will be able to substantiate any decision based on data and experience. This is not only about the ability to understand metrics, but also the ability to draw conclusions from user reviews. Quantitative and qualitative data are increasingly becoming a key element of UX practices and customer service. Anyone who can extract information efficiently will be good at UX.

6. Attention to detail
Everyone says that details are important to a designer, but in reality, working with them is not easy. It requires a lot of concentration, but it reduces the risk of serious mistakes. There are people by nature more attentive. Fortunately, practice also allows you to pump this quality.

7. Empathy for users
The UX designer must learn to put himself in the place of the consumer, to separate his feelings from interacting with a product or service. Only in this way can he act as a defender of the interests of the user in front of the rest of the project team.

8. Vision of the whole picture
The main feature required by the UX designer is integrated thinking. You need to understand the strategy, business requirements, and user needs. Anyone who is able to see the whole picture will not get bogged down in details, but at the same time will not lose attention to them.
