Web Design Trends 2015

Many areas of activity are subject to the influence of fashion, including web design. And, for example, even before the onset of 2015, both web design specialists and potential website customers are interested in what web design will be this year. Well, let’s find out together what are the expected trends in web design 2015.

Fashion in web design is not so fleeting, and therefore many of the trends expected in 2015 repeat or develop existing trends of previous years. So, it is expected that in 2015 adaptive and responsive web design will receive further development. This, however, is not surprising when you consider that the mobile audience of sites is growing every year.

Adaptive and responsive web design allows you not to create separate versions of sites for desktop PCs and mobile devices, but to change the design of one version of the site depending on which device the visitor is using. This approach allows you to save resources on creating a site, as well as on modernization or redesign, since only 1 version of the site will have to be changed, and not several.

Another “long-playing” trend of the past years, which continues to develop in 2015, is the emphasis on typography. The popularity of this technique in web design is associated with the desire of companies and brands to stand out for the target audience and be remembered by it, for which actively unique copyright fonts are used on websites.

The use of large background images and videos in the design of sites, the flat design of web page elements, does not cease to be relevant. This is facilitated by the further development and increasingly active implementation of HTML 5 and CSS 3 technologies. And, by the way, speaking of flat design, one cannot but mention the “ghostly” buttons – one of the trends of 2014, which is expected to become even more popular in 2015 year.

“Ghostly” buttons are called interactive web design elements that have a transparent background and are framed only by a thin line. These buttons are contrasted with the earlier tendency toward skeuomorphism, and are described as elegant and minimalistic. It is interesting that, contrary to doubts, they are perfectly visible to visitors, because when you hover they usually change color, which attracts attention to them.

Card (tiled) design is also not a new trend, but it is expected that interest in it will not fade in 2015. Such a design is primarily inspired by the famous Pinterest, and it must be interactive: such a design involves the interaction of visitors with each of the tile elements, and not just displaying information on the screen.

One of the new web design trends that should be developed in 2015 is interactive storytelling. This technique in web design implies that the visitor does not just leaf through the pages of the site, but participates in creating a kind of history, which is an additional incentive to interact with the site. Of course, this technique is not suitable for every site, but nevertheless it finds its audience.

In connection with the tendency to shift the emphasis from versions of sites for PC to mobile versions, in 2015 such a new trend as scrolling will be further developed. Now site visitors are encouraged not to click on the links or buttons on the sites, but simply use the scroll bar to access the information. The use of this technique is most important for promotional sites, however, it can be useful for other types of sites.

Web design trends 2015, as you see, in some ways repeat the old experience, and in some – create a completely new and unusual. But it is worth noting that today there is a whole category of sites, which, regardless of fashion, it is important to maintain a classic design: official sites of government agencies, very often – sites of banks and other financial institutions. However, classic – this does not mean outdated: on the contrary, a good classic website design must “keep up” with the times in order to meet the needs of its visitors.

By the way, it is best to contact a professional web studio for the development of web design, both classic and modern, specialists will develop a unique thematic web design for you and provide cross-browser layout using modern technologies.
